We are seeking a Product Improvement Manager to help us improve our award-winning PhotonAssay technology. With a background in electrical, mechanical or mechatronic engineering, you’ll contribute to improving the designs of our current systems and future generations of PhotonAssayTM.

The role of the role…

We are looking for an experienced manager to oversee product improvements and in-field upgrades to Chrysos’ PhotonAssay systems. The candidate will have experience managing the delivery and operation of complex technology, including supervision of local and international manufacturers and integrators, product change management, and product improvement and upgrading.

The position is based in Perth, WA.

The Product Improvement Manager, in carrying out of their duties will:

  • Report directly to Chrysos’ Product Manager,
  • Supervise the engineers in the Chrysos Product Improvement team
  • Partner with the Maintenance teams to implement product improvement changes,
  • Engage closely with Chrysos’ customers and suppliers, including staff from our major contractor,
  • Interact with scientists and engineers in the Chrysos Product Development teams.

The nitty gritty.

  • The successful candidate will:
  • Run Chrysos’ Product Change Management process, ensuring that all modifications and upgrades are accurately documented, communicated to manufacturing partners and incorporated into future systems as efficiently as possible.
  • Manage Chrysos’ PLC, mechanical and electrical engineers in the implementation and testing of modifications and upgrades on existing PhotonAssay systems.
  • Liaise with Chrysos’ physics and software teams, providing practical input into the design of new systems and services. • Liaise with Chrysos’ installation, commissioning and service teams.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training materials relating to new products and features.
  • Incorporate team feedback into future design improvements.
  • Contribute to Chrysos’ culture of safety and zero-harm.

OK, so what are we looking for?

Essential
  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, science or similar area, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in an engineering position, ideally including a mix of management, field operations and maintenance roles.
  • Demonstrated excellence in overseeing the commissioning, support and improvement of complex products, including management of internal and external manufacturing and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical documentation and manuals.
  • Able and willing to travel both interstate and internationally (subject to Australian Government travel restrictions).
Desirable
  • Experience in one of more of the following areas: mechatronics, PLC/HMI design and programming, automation design, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
  • Experience working with X-ray or radiation technologies, including familiarity with radiation safety and licencing requirements.
  • Experience working in the mining industry or developing products for mining applications.
  • Experience with product change management practices.
  • Exposure to reliability engineering or machine hardening methodologies.
